What’s Cooking?
I found Del.icio.us a fascinating place to browse. As I was browsing I could see that some people or libraries had very lengthy pages with numerous tags. The lengthier the lists the more it seemed to me that the elegance of organization could become murky. The larger the group of individuals who would be referencing these tags the more important it would be to use the more formal taxononomies. Since we try to assist patrons in as timely a fashion as possible the process of wading through numerous tags may be slower than googling something.
As I was browsing on del.icio.us I found a blog that lists libraries with del.icio.us accounts.
http://angelacw.wordpress.com/2007/06/04/delicious-libraries/ I thought that the San Mateo Library did a great job of organizing by Dewey Decimal numbers. This would seem like potentially a very good way for a library to make use of de.icio.us as a reference tool.
Personally, I love the idea of being able to make my bookmarks transportable.
Thanks for the mention and for visiting my del.icio.us libraries list.
Del.icio.us is an amazing tool!
